Rose Avenue Foodie Guide

Rose Avenue in Venice, California has become a foodie haven, with the seven blocks leading to Venice Beach being home to some of the best neighborhood eateries on the Westside of Los Angeles. These hot spots have a laid-back beachy vibe, while keeping hip and with the same wow-factor that’s on Abbot Kinney. Arrive for cocktail hour, your next date night, or grab a Win-Dow grain bowl and Moon Juice elixir on your way to the Pacific ocean. Here are some of our favorites places and recommendations for you.

Wallflower

Wallflower

Wallflower

Wallflower’s Southeast Asian food and cocktails give a nod to their roots in Indonesia. This gorgeous space likes to host art installations so the views are as innovative and inspiring as the food. Grab a ‘street snack’ like Indonesian shrimp fritters to enjoy with your “Empress of Bali” cocktail. Vegan, vegetarian and gluten free friendly plus plenty of organic, biodynamic wines available.

Moon Juice

If you’re looking for holistic goodies and immune boosters made with plant-sourced alchemy, head to Moon Juice for adaptogenic supplements, skincare, foods and cleanses. Grab one of their “dusts” to add to your daily coffee or smoothie, you’ll be glowing inside and out!

Cafe Gratitude

Speaking of glowing, set an intention as you eat in this entirely plant-based spacious and boho light filled cafe. Don’t worry if you’re new to mindfulness, each meal has its own theme. Be “Elated” with the jackfruit enchiladas or “Vivid” with their Acai superbowl, and be thankful for the amazingly healthy and flavorful meal which follows.

Wabi on Rose

We love this Venice institution’s new spot on Rose (previously on Abbot Kinney) with a dramatic new entrance and super chic outdoor seating, ideal for taking in a custom crafted cocktail and sushi as beautiful as it is delicious. Specialty rolls are a must, try a Foxxy (spicy tuna, shrimp tempura + truffle oil!) along with Chilean seabass skewers and other bites from the grill.

Jeni’s Ice Cream

It’s always a good time of the day to stop by Jeni’s, who serves up smooth and amazing artisanal ice cream by the cone, cup or pint. Our newest summer favorite is the “Wedding Cake” with lemon, blackberries, and buttercream icing. Their dairy-free options are also to die for, like roasted peanut butter and strawberry jam made with coconut milk. You can feel good knowing they don’t use any synthetic flavorings, dyes, or mixes, so grab an extra pint for later!

American Beauty & The Win-Dow

American Beauty is a neighborhood steakhouse featuring wood grilled steaks, seafood, and creative and chef driven takes on a variety of vegetable forward dishes. The bar at American Beauty takes a craftsman’s approach to cocktails, and boasts a wine list of over 200 selections from around the world.

The Win-Dow go-to local takeout spot on the corner of Rose and 5th Ave serves up some of the most delicious and affordable eats around. Open seven days a week for smash-burgers (regular and vegetarian), fried chicken sandwiches, fries and $7 grain bowls. You might be able to grab a seat on one of the stools or walk a few blocks to soak in the Venice beach vibes.

The Rose Venice

The Rose Venice

The longtime community favorite Rose Cafe remains a hot destination for brunch, happy hour at their 40-foot cocktail bar, and everything in between. The sprawling space includes both indoor and outdoor dining (and a beer garden) where Chef Jason Neroni serves SoCal classics mixed with some international influence. Try the Korean style fried chicken sandwich or opt for a Flower Power pizza with squash blossoms and ricotta.
